One suit, three occasions.

Now we all want to look good when we are going to an event. Have you ever wondered about having an outfit that can fit all events but with just a little bit of alteration to the outfit and maybe to the pair of shoes. Now gatherings are split up into about two different types; formal and casual. We are more going to be settling on the formal side  though you can still improvise to make a clean casual look, though it won’t be too casual at the same time. Now to look good on these events with just one suit won’t be so easy. It’s guaranteed to fit in your budget if you don’t have the budget to blow on having multiple suits like your some kind of business tycoon. Remembering that we are only working with a suit, it’s going to be kinda difficult to make it fit into casual occasions but don’t worry about that.

Suit

When it comes to the suit, versatility is keen, we need something that’s able to switch up whenever we need it to. A navy blue suit will do the job, same colour top and bottom. A matching waistcoat to go with the suit. We’ll be switching up on colours and the types of shirts. The whole point here is to see how much editing we can do with one particular suit. Now you may or may not agree with the final pieces that we choose for every different occasion but that’s up to you now to alter.

For shoes, we’ll only use three pairs of shoes ranging from formal lace shoes, loafers and lastly sneakers. Though you can switch up places with loafers and sneakers. Doing so with the formal lace shoes is very difficult. They are harder to match up with a very casual outfit but can still be pulled off on a business casual look.

Formal events

There are a vast array of formal events and all of them have a specific dress code that has to be followed. Formal events are split into business, ceremonial and social. For business you have anything that’s work related, ceremonial is more of graduation styled events and then social is more of gatherings like weddings.

Business events

Business formal

I guess you already know the use of a tie at this moment. Am going to stress it even more because it’s the epiphany of this outfit. This is going to scream business at first glance and is going to be hard to ignore. Now for the tie colour you can go crazy but I would advise blue, maroon and black. You can even do floral designs or patterns but all I want to emphasize is the slimness of the tie. Personally wide ties aren’t so appealing but they can still be won if that’s your personal preference.

Then let’s move on to the shirts, there are many colours that can really go with dark blue but I’ll start you off with a few. A slightly lighter shade of blue, light pink, black and white will do the trick. All now you’ll be left with is matching your tie either the shirt and you’re good to go.

When it comes to shoes, for business formal I’d prefer wearing the formal lace shoes because they give you more of a professional look than loafers normally would. This is business formal done in simple.

Business casual

This is where I’d throw in loafers before even talking about the suit but I’ll go step by step. For the suit it’s going to be up to you whether to keep the coat or do away with it. I’ll start with if you want to keep the coat, if you want to do so then all you have to do is remove the tie and throw on loafers and that it. Done plain and simple without too much. In case you want to do away with the coat then you can opt for two options, either do a shirt or switch up and go with a polo shirt that you can either tuck in or not. For the polo shirt, just opt for the same colours as the shirts and you’ll still do okay. Button up t-shirts are also a really good option, personally I’d stick to simple designs like a one pocket t-shirt and opting for the same colours as before.

Like I said before loafers are a perfect fit for this outfit because I feel sneakers will make you look a little bit too casual and that’s not ideal for this category.

Ceremonial events

For ceremonial events like graduations, court and parliament sessions, it’s mainly straight forward. Here you’ll have to put on the full blown suit and nothing else. The waistcoat can now be put into use really well here, then you’ll also top it up with a tie if you want to but make sure those formal lace shoes are on before stepping out of your house. Then the colour of the shirts remains the same and now you can choose to leave your court open.

Social events

Social events can either be grouped as casual or formal. Weddings, reunions, community events, fundraising, and education events are all under this category and now this makes it difficult to give a distinct look that you should choose. Due to their varying levels of formality, i would advise you to use a mixture of the two categories above to suit any particular social event.

Is it possible to do a casual outfit?

Yes it is very possible but remember it can’t  be too casual at the same time. All you’ll have to do is wear sneakers and opt for polos and this time no tucking them in. Then you can choose to wear bracelets to give it a more relaxed look and a sweater too just to make the outfit a little cosy. I forgot to mention earlier, a watch is a nice touch on your overall look so don’t be afraid to purchase one to make that look really pop.
