I am no plant expert or interior designer and now am questioning myself even more on why I wrote this article. This article to me is all about trying something new, something different and getting out of your comfort zone. I wrote an article previously about a morning routine and now you can also top this up and add it to your morning routine, watering plants ( sounds good doesn’t it). There are multiple blogs on the internet talking about how it’s great having plants in your house and the benefits that come with it. Enhanced mood, reduced stress, and increased productivity, these to me sound over the top but it could be something that your body unconsciously benefits from just by having plants. I can’t directly point to the plants and say they are the reason I am in a better mood or they are the reason my productivity increased but at least you’ll have improved air quality in your house. That is enough to make you Wana get a plant or two at least, even if you probably don’t want one because you’re too lazy to care for it. We actually thought about that and included some good options for you
Like I said before we are all about trying something new today, so let me give you an insight into plant care and minimalistic plants that you can start off with. You most likely will become a big plant head and upgrade to more striking bigger plants but in case you don’t, you still have that added natural flare to your home. Firstly you have to first understand what kind of colour is most dominant in your house design, so that you can choose whether to match your chosen pots to it or not. At this point it will be all up to either have the same coloured pots that create a sense of unity and harmony or different coloured pots to stand out. Based on this you’ll know what kind of colour to choose for your pots. Once you have your pot colour down it’s on to the next step, what plants do you start with?
Well if you don’t have any plants at all, it’s best to opt for smaller and more resistant plants. This is because I know you’ll definitely lack the time and knowledge to care for them. I mean there has to be a reason why you don’t already have them in the fast place. Now there are very many options that you’d go for, some need for frequent watering than others. In case you’re the type to always remember to water your plants then don’t choose plants like this because you’re most likely going to kill them. The key is to mimic their natural habitat and if you’re nowhere close to that then they won’t look the best. You can try plants like the jade plant, cactus, spider plant, chandelier plant, ghost plant, and the golden pothos. All simple but easy to take care of and look gorgeous.

Here’s a list of plants to try out in case you want more variety of plants and depth in plant care. Do be cautious, some of these plants can get big so I think it’s best to go for the small ones for the beginning, do more research on the plants to make you at least aware of their needs and there characteristics. And also it is also important to know that some of these plants could potentially be poisonous if eaten in large quantities so don’t eat them. In case you have kids then move potentially hazardous plants to higher locations, use hanging baskets, or relocate them to rooms where toddlers don’t frequently play and teach children not to touch or eat plants.
Design choices
This reminds me about pots again, you can choose to be a little different. Go for something simple that’s if your house layout and design allows for it, you can make use of water bottles as pots or any container. Though this would better fit outside and is hard to make work if you’re aiming to have more of a classy or modern look. This embraces themes like upcycling and environmental awareness and most people are not really interested in that. This tends to be the cheaper alternative to having plants because all you can do now is just shift a plant from like outside into the container and you’re good to go, well that’s if you actually do have your desired plant outside. Don’t be afraid to paint the containers if you want to or design a little in case you want something that’s really artsy.

Now if you’re more of a normal person and want something subtle and boring I think the basic pot is best suited for you. It does the job without making too much fuss about it. There are many designs you can choose though except them to all look a little similar. But personally I really like the plain white though I feel like black is a good choice too, if you’re a fan of classic colours then you can choose to go brown

Plant placement
There are multiple places to put plants ranging from tables, shelves and hanging. Though I won’t talk about that, I feel like that’s all up to you and where you feel looks better. I’ll talk more about placement, you can either have them together or choose to have them spread out all over the house. This is either for making a specific point in a room standout as a designated plant corner or integrating it within your living space by spreading them out.
